Randolph D. Hubach, PhD, MPH
Dr. Randolph Hubach is Co-Director of the Sexual Health Research Lab at Purdue University and Associate Professor of Public Health. He holds a Ph.D. in Health Behavior from Indiana University’s School of Public Health and MPH from California State University, Fullerton. Early in his career, Dr. Hubach’s research and practice experiences included serving as PI on a federally funded community-based sexual health intervention project, developing managed care programs for local public health and mental health jurisdictions, and serving in leadership positions in multiple community health coalitions and planning processes. As a behavioral scientist and public health researcher, he has gained a practical understanding of the challenges associated with the delivery of public health programs that are scientifically sound and responsive to the needs of diverse communities.
Dr. Hubach’s research interests include using community engaged principles to address sexuality-related health disparities, sexual behavior, LGBT population health, and HIV/AIDS within urban and rural communities.
Kelley Rhoads, PhD
Dr. Kelley Rhoads is Co-Director of the Sexual Health Research Lab at Oklahoma State University (OSU) and Assistant Professor of Health Education and Promotion at OSU–Stillwater. She earned a Ph.D in Community Health Promotion and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Statistics and Research Methods from the University of Arkansas. The overall focus of her research is sexual violence prevention among college students with an emphasis on sexual consent communication. As a mixed-methods researcher, Dr. Rhoads collects and utilizes formative qualitative data in order to inform and create a solid methodological foundation for her quantitative projects. Her methodology ranges from content analyses and one-on-one interviews to psychometric assessment and multilevel modeling. As a public health professional and strong sexual health advocate, she strives to improve the health and overall wellbeing of college students and their larger community with the work she does.
Dr. Rhoads’ research interests include violence prevention, sexual consent conceptions, the intersection of social media and sexuality, and measure/scale development.
Zach Giano, PhD
Dr. Giano is a Research Associate at the Center for Innovative Design & Analysis at the Colorado School of Public Health. Dr. Giano received his Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science in 2018 from Oklahoma State University. His publications have addressed the contextual risk and protective factors that contribute to risk-taking behaviors, educational attainment, and mental health outcomes among sexual and racial/ethnic minorities, particularly in adolescents. Dr. Giano was also an Albert Schweitzer Fellow; a health-based fellowship which builds community service programs in the Tulsa-area. His program, S.T.E.P. (Support and Tutoring Enrichment Program) worked with mothers and children living in transitional housing.
Carlos Mahaffey, PharmD, MPH
Dr. Mahaffey is Assistant Professor of Public Health at Purdue University. He received his PharmD from Florida A&M University and MPH from Morehouse School of Medicine. He completed a NIDA-funded post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Mahaffey’s earlier research included private and federal funding to address sociocultural factors, sexual risky behaviors, substance use, and health care utilization impacting health outcomes among justice-involved Black men and adolescents. His area of research focuses on HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, sociocultural determinants of health, justice-involved populations, and African American/Black MSM. As a public health professional, he is committed to reducing and eliminating the health disparities among vulnerable populations.
Lorraine V. Stigar, DrPH, MPH, CHES
Dr. Lorraine Stigar is a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in the Department of Public Health at Purdue University. They earned their Doctor of Public Health in Public Health Leadership from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) where their research focused on health education, equity and inclusion, and access to LGBTQIA+ affirming care.
